Anne-Cathrine Riebnitzsky, born 1974, was educated at the Danish School of Creative Writing in 1998. She is a Language Officer, specialized in Russian (trained in 2003). She worked among other places at the Danish Embassy in Moscow before being sent to Afghanistan in 2007, first as a soldier and later as the advisor to The Danish Foreign Ministry.
Anne-Cathrine Riebnitzsky debuted in 2010 with the biography The Women’s War, which is an account of her work with Afghan women. The book was long listed for Weekendavisens Litteraturpris 2010. The Stolen Road is her second book and her first novel. It won The Debutant Prize 2012.
Her third book and second novel Slaughtered Pigs won the Politiken Novel competition and the prestigious The Golden Laurel award. It was published on September 5th 2013.
This year her newest novel Hurricane and the silence was published.
